Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park Sacramento - Unauthorized Gathering Ends in Shooting
On April 18 2026, an unlawful gathering of several hundred people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento turned violent when 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as Sacramento County law enforcement were attempting to clearing the crowd.
How It Unfolded
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department got reports about individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. An additional caller reported a potential physical confrontation and individuals fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement air support was sent to the area and conducted an aerial search but did not locate the reported fight.
However, several hundred people had collected at the park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unauthorized gathering. Responding deputies formed a perimeter around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and took about 15 minutes announcing over loudspeakers for people to leave over their vehicle speakers.
As officers worked to clear the park, upwards of 20 gunshots filled the night air — triggering a panicked crowd in panic.
Shooting Victims
Four people — a female and three male victims, all believed to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two of the victims had serious injuries, one with moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four victims were stable. What Was Found at the Scene
The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. more info The Home Depot store was locked down for a period of time. Extra shell casings were found along Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the iron fence around the Home Depot store — indicating a shooter firing south from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot parking lot. The Suspect Vehicle
Via scanner radio traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — described as a Kia vehicle — was stopped in the Solano County area with four suspects detained.
